Located between Tehran and Isfahan, Keshan is famous for its roses, textiles and pottery. The Ardebil carpet from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London was made in Keshan in the 16th century. The modern carpets are also of good quality. The warp and weft of the carpets are made of cotton, the knot is Persian and the wool is of high quality. The motifs are very varied, from beautiful medallions to fine floral motifs. The colors are bright and cheerful. The colors are off-white, beige, blue and red. The highest quality Keshan rugs use 'Kork' wool from the spring. This is the very best wool. This makes the rugs strong, but at the same time very soft. The quality of the old Keshan silk is sublime.
