Ghazni Beige 3831
Ghazni rugs originally come from the Arak region of Iran (Persia), but are now only made in Afghanistan. They have their origins in the Ziegler company from Manchester, which settled in Persia in 1878-80 and had its own carpets knotted there to meet the Western demand for rugs with specific patterns, colors and sizes. These rugs are adapted to Western tastes and are specifically made for export. This explains its popularity in Europe and America. Production took place in the workshops of the Ziegler company itself and not, as was usual before, at the knotters' homes. The Zieglers that were knotted until the First World War were finely knotted rugs in soft, delicate colors. The rugs inspired several nomadic families and today they are produced in Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. The rugs, with their characteristic leaf and flower pattern, are all unique variations of harmoniously combined earth tones such as ochre, burnt sienna, indigo blue and henna orange. To give the rugs the desired patina, they are first washed intensively and then dried in the sun.
