The Bakhtiar nomads live west of the City of Isfahan in the Zagros Mountains. The wool used for the carpets is beaten very hard. This makes them very sturdy and makes Bachtiar carpets very strong and resistant to heavy use. Well-known motifs are the tree of life and the Khesti or garden motif with flowers and animals. The color pigments are usually of vegetable origin, so the colors can vary. The highest quality carpets have a high knot density and are also called Bibibaff.
